First Time at PDX?

There are a plethora of activities, places, and foods to enjoy in Portland and its surrounding areas. We take great joy showing and sharing with our friends and family what makes our home a great place to live. Unfortunately, we may not be able to give you a one-on-one tour this time, so instead we are sharing some of our favorites. Maybe they'll help you determine where to find lodging during your visit, or even convince you to come back again.

What the bride and groom enjoy

Food

Lima (Peruvian)

You can't go wrong with ceviche, pescado a lo macho, and a glass of chicha morada.

Cubo (Cuban)

Get the cubano sandwich with a side of tostones, the Caribbean salad with shrimp, and a cocktail or café cubano.

Best Baguette (Vietnamese)

With a second location, don't miss the chance to get a crispy and tasty grilled pork sandwich.

Eem (Thai)

You can't go wrong with anything here.

Tasty Pot (Taiwanese)

Medium spicy is all we can handle. Their large soups are perfect for two.

Desserts

Blue Star (Donuts)

The passionfruit cocoa nib is Gonzalo's favorite. They close when they sell out so go early. There are four locations to increase your odds.

Salt & Straw (Ice Cream)

Beware of long lines and handmade waffle cones. Honey Lavender is Allysa's favorite. There are also four locations.

Papa Haydn (Cakes)

They serve dinner, but everyone goes there for their cakes and drinks! You are encouraged to make a reservation.

Wailua Shave Ice (Shaved Ice)

Refreshing, sweet, and light. Go early before they sell out for the day.

Within the city

Downtown Portland

Visit the Portland Art Museum, Powell's City of Books (a giant bookstore), Pioneer Courthouse Square and the waterfront.

Washington Park

Visit the most authentic Japanese Garden outside of Japan, take a walk through the Hoyt Arboretum, smell roses at the International Rose Test Garden, or see animals at the zoo. All right here.

Outside the city

West Coast Best Coast

Drive to Tillamook through the Tillamook forest. Stop midway for infinite trails and views. At Tillamook visit the factory for the famous Tillamook cheese and ice-cream. Head north towards Cannon Beach. Get some chowder at Mo's. Visit Ecola State Park and take a dip or hike at the Indian Beach. Return to Cannon Beach and admire Haystack Rock during the sunset before returning to Portland.

The Mountain is Out

See Mount Hood peeking behind the clouds? Want to get closer? Drive to Trillium Lake and take a dip. Keep going around the mountain to Tamanawas Falls and grab a bite at Hood River. Enjoy the drive down the Gorge back to Portland. If you get a reservation you can visit Multnomah Falls and do the gorgeous trail that loops to Wahkeena Falls.

I'm a Waterfall Enthusiast

Head south to Silver Falls and do the Trail of 10 Falls. This wet forest is full of plants, life, and mushrooms.

As a last tip if you are flying from the east get a left side seat to view Mt Hood during landing. If flying from the south, get a right side seat.
